2015 Special Recognition

Marilyn Hollingsworth

The Board of Commissioners presented Marilyn Hollingsworth with Social Services an engraved plaque in appreciation of her dedicated service as a county employee.  Mrs. Hollingsworth began working with the County of Wayne on November 1, 1985 and will retire on December 31, 2015.  The Board of Commissioners wished Marilyn Hollingsworth well in her retirement. 


George Wayne AycockChairman Joe Daughtery presented former Board of Commissioners Chairman George Wayne Aycock, Jr. his gavel, an engraved plaque and name plate in appreciation of his dedicated service as Chairman of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners from December 3, 2013-December 1, 2015.
Chairman Joe Daughtery thanked Commissioner George Wayne Aycock, Jr. for serving as Chairman for two years.  Chairman Joe Daughtery also thanked the family of Commissioner George Wayne Aycock, Jr. for sharing him during his tenure as Chairman.  Linda Aycock, wife of Commissioner George Wayne Aycock, Jr., was present for the presentation.


Pam Holt
County Manager George A. Wood presented Finance Director Pamela M. Holt an engraved plaque in appreciation of her dedicated service as a county employee.  Mrs. Holt began working with the County of Wayne on March 15, 1988 and will retire on December 31, 2015.  The Board of Commissioners wished Pamela M. Holt well in her retirement. 

Kim Wells

Human Resources Director Jerilyn Lee presented Human Resources Recruitment and Retention Coordinator Kim Wells an engraved plaque in appreciation of her dedicated service as a county employee.  Mrs. Wells began working with the County of Wayne on October 8, 1990 and retired on December 31, 2015.  The Board of Commissioners wished Kim Wells well in her retirement.




Darrell Overton and Kenneth Lupton Sheriff Larry M. Pierce presented Major Daryll Overton with the Sheriff’s Office an engraved plaque in appreciation of his dedicated service as a county employee.  Major Overton began working with the County of Wayne on December 24, 1990 and will retire on December 31, 2015.  The Board of Commissioners wished Major Overton well in his retirement.

Sheriff Larry M. Pierce presented Lieutenant Kenneth Lupton with the Sheriff’s Office an engraved plaque in appreciation of his dedicated service as a county employee.  Lieutenant Lupton began working with the County of Wayne on May 31, 1988 and will retire on December 31, 2015.  The Board of Commissioners wished Lieutenant Lupton well in his retirement

Upon motion of Commissioner George Wayne Aycock, Jr., the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved and authorized a resolution awarding retiring Lieutenant Kenneth Lupton with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office his service weapon in exchange for consideration of $1.00 in accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 20-187.2.

Upon motion of Commissioner A. Joe Gurley, III, the Board of Commissioners unanimously approved and authorized a resolution awarding retiring Major Daryll Overton with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office his service weapon in exchange for consideration of $1.00 in accordance with North Carolina General Statute § 20-187.2.


Linda Overton

Assistant County Manager Tommy R. Burns recognized Linda Hood Overton for her 17 years of dedicated service in the Office of Emergency Services with a certificate of appreciation.
