2016-A Special Recognition

Myra Jones
Social Services Adult and Children’s Services Program Manager Stephen Potter presented an engraved plaque to Myra Jones with the Department of Social Services in appreciation of her dedicated service as a county employee.  Mrs. Jones began working with the County of Wayne on September 26, 1983 and will retire on February 29, 2016.  The Board of Commissioners wished Myra Jones well in her retirement.

Audrey Williams
Health Department Nutrition Program Director Stephanie Howard presented an engraved plaque to Audrey N. Williams with the Health Department in appreciation of her dedicated service as a county employee.  Mrs. Williams began working with the County of Wayne on June 1, 1988 and will retire on February 29, 2016.  The Board of Commissioners wished Audrey N. Williams well in her retirement. 

Evelyn Coley

On February 16, 2016 the Wayne County Board of Commissioners presented Evelyn Coley with the Health Department an employee service pin for 35 years of dedicated service.  Evelyn Coley is Director of Nursing.


Rep. John Bell
Wayne County Sheriff Larry M. Pierce presented Representative John R. Bell, IV the 2015 Defender of Public Safety award from the North Carolina Sheriff’s Association in recognition and appreciation of his outstanding public service through legislative initiatives that increase public safety and protect the rights of the citizens of North Carolina.


Daly

On June 7, 2016 the Wayne County Board of Commissioners and Sheriff Larry M. Pierce honored Lt. Sherwood Daly upon his retirement from the Sheriff’s Office.  He was awarded his badge and service side arm.  He was also presented an engraved plaque for his dedicated service to the County of Wayne.  Lt. Daly began working for the County of Wayne on January 17, 1989 and retired on April 30, 2016.  The Board of Commissioners wished Lt. Sherwood Daly well in his retirement.




AgCarolina

On June 7, 2016 the Wayne County Board of Commissioners recognized AgCarolina Farm Credit for its $50,000 contribution to the Farmers Market at the Maxwell Regional Agricultural and Convention Center.  Present for the special recognition presentation included AgCarolina Farm Credit President and CEO Dave Corum, Senior Vice President Tim Pace, Regional Board of Director Eldridge Westbrook  and Loan Officer Robert Winders.  Representatives from AgCarolina Farm Credit thanked the Board of Commissioners for its leadership.  The Farmers Market will be beneficial for Wayne County and the farmers.


Finance3

County Manager George A. Wood presented the Wayne County Finance Office a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR).  The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.  The CAFR has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.  This is the 20th straight year the Wayne County Finance Office has received this award.



Vickie Lewis

On June 21, 2016 the Wayne County Board of Commissioners recognized Wayne County Tax Office Chief Property Transfer Officer Vicki Lewis for her 30 years of dedicated service to the county.
