Program Overview

Target Population:

The primarily targeted population for the DRC is offenders who have received Intermediate Punishment Sentences within the I/A Grid in Superior or District Court. These offenders are likely to have serviced a split sentence and/or have been assigned to Intensive Probation Supervision. The offender population primarily targeted to receive services at the DRC is identified as:

  • Nonviolent
  • A resident of Wayne County
  • Less than 35 years of age
  • Arrested for drug/alcohol related or property offenses

Offenders who do not qualify for the primarily targeted group may be admitted into the program based on space availability.

Eligibility Criteria:

Other conditions clients must meet to be eligible for services at the DRC:

  • Not charged with or sentenced for a serious violent offense.
  • No serious outstanding warrants, restraining orders or significant default records.
  • An approved residence and a means of support.
  • Agree to abide by the conditions of the contract entered into with the DRC.

Program Rule Violations and Consequences:

Each offender assigned to the DRC receives a DRC Handbook which explains the program and the rules of program participation.  Each offender is also advised verbally and in writing about the rules governing program participation and the consequences for failing to follow the rules.
