Further Your Education
Adult Basic Education (ABE) and General Education Diploma (GED) classes are available at the Day Reporting Center (DRC) on a space available basis to members of our community.
- These classes are provided through the Wayne Community College and are held without cost to the student. There is a nominal charge at the college once the student registers there to take the official GED exam. Actual class attendance is free with study materials also supplied at no charge.
- The student must be at least 16 years of age to attend these classes. If under 18, a signed release form from the Wayne County Public Schools along with a transcript of their grades must be brought with the student in order to register. All students must provide a photo ID and know their social security number.
- The classes are scheduled for Mondays and Wednesdays. There are afternoon classes from 1-4 P.M. and evening classes from 5:30-8:30 P.M.
- The progress of the student is based on their own efforts and determination, as these are self-paced classes where the student will learn at their own rate.
- The classes are available at the DRC to serve individuals assigned to this program through the courts. Students from the community are welcome to enroll at this location with the understanding that it is on a "space available" basis.
Please call 919-705-1904 with any questions concerning these classes.
