Wayne County is situated in the eastern coastal plain region of North Carolina. It is located in the North Carolina's Eastern Region, which is the economic development agency for 13 counties in Eastern North Carolina. Goldsboro, the county seat, is bisected by two major four-lane highways (East/West by US Highway 70 and North/South by US Highway 117). Commercial airline services are available at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (1 hour 30 minutes distant) and the Kinston Jetport (30 minutes distant). The Kinston Jetport is located in the North Carolina's Global TransPark, which is a unique combination of a computer-age airport and transportation system, with a 21st century manufacturing and distribution complex.
