The Wayne County Health Department in conjunction with the Wayne Council on Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention is sponsoring its 6th annual Abstinence Essay Contest in observance of May as Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Month. All 9th –12th grade Wayne County students (public, private, or home-schooled) are eligible to participate in this essay contest.
Here is some additional information that will help you enter the contest.
WHAT ARE THE GUIDELINES FOR THE CONTEST?
Essay Topic – Please submit an essay in your own words on why you think abstinence is the best choice for teens in the prevention of teenage pregnancy.
Word limit – No more than 1500 words
Format – Essay must be typed. Essay should be double spaced on 8 ½ x 11” paper with a 12pt. font and 1" margins.
Eligibility – Contest is open to all currently enrolled Wayne County high school students (public and private). Guidelines have to be followed to remain eligible.
Entry form and essay – Entry form should accompany the essay. The only personal (identifiable) information to appear on your essay is the last four digits of your social security number. These digits should appear in the header section of each page of the essay.
WHAT ARE THE PRIZES BEING AWARDED?
1st place: $1,000 Scholarship $200 Gift Certificate to Berkeley Mall 2nd place: $500 Scholarship $100 Gift Certificate to Berkeley Mall 3rd place: $300 Scholarship $50 Gift Certificate to Berkeley Mall
WHEN IS THE ENTRY DEADLINE?
All entries are due no later than April 25, 2008 May 9, 2008. Your essay must be postmarked NO LATER than April 25, 2008 May 9, 2008.
