The Administrative Office Staff consists of Sheriff Carey A. Winders, Chief-Deputy Ray Smith, Major George Raecher, Major John Winstead and Office Manager Emily Smith. Sheriff Winders is ultimately responsible for all operations of the Office. The Sheriff oversees and maintains physical control of the financial budgets, planning, and development of new programs and Divisions to increase the quality of life in Wayne County. Sheriff Winders also pro-actively works with all Divisions of this agency.
In the Sheriff's absence, Chief-Deputy Ray Smith, Major George Raecher and Major John Winstead maintain many of the responsibilities of the Sheriff. Chief-Deputy Ray Smith also oversees all aspects of the Wayne County Sheriff's Office, Major Rachear oversees the Dudley Annex, School Resource, Drug Squad, A.C.E (Aggressive Criminal Enforcement) Team and Investigations. Major John Winstead oversees the Civil Division, Patrol Division and Support Services of the Sheriff's Office. The Detention Center is supervised by Captain James Tadlock. Office Manager Emily Smith is responsible for all clerical tasks within the Administrative Staff. She is the personal assistant to the Administration and maintains all of the financial records for the Sheriff's Office and Detention Center.
