Wayne County Celebrates Centenarians Day

On September 22, 2006 Chairman Atlas Price, Jr. proclaimed the day as Centenarians Day in Wayne County.  Wayne County centenarians are among the 76,000 Americans who hold the distinction of being centenarians, a group now believed to be the fastest growing group of Americans.

A centenarian is a person who has attained the age of 100 years or more. The term is associated with longevity because average life expectancies across the world are far from 100. Much rarer, a supercentenarian is a person who has lived to the age of 110 or more.

Wayne County applauds and congratulates its centenarians for their remarkable lives, filled with great accomplishments and years.

Joining in the celebration were Lila F., born on September 16, 1903; Catherine D, born on August 22, 1900 and Mildred N., born on September 8, 1906.  Daisy Quince, born on May 29, 1904, was unable to attend.

Congratulations And Best Wishes To Our Centenarians!
