Youth in Government Day

On April 22, 2008 students from the Wayne County Public Schools participated in Youth in Government Day. The students became County Commissioners for a day. Topics for the day included the animal adoption and education center, teacher supplements, homeless survey report, proposed ¼ cent sales tax, juvenile detention center, seized drug monies, school resource officers for middle schools and voter participation.
Students and staff participated from the following high schools:
Charles B. Aycock High School – Bryce Newsome, Jennifer Warren and Rajohn Ormond. Chris Merritt served as advisor.
Eastern Wayne High School – Kate Brantley, Jordan Harris and Hallie Hulse. Alissa Merritt served as advisor.
Goldsboro High School – Michael Thevenin, Jessica Rouse and Shateea Kornegay. Harold Barnes served as advisor.
Rosewood High School – Caroline Keen, Aaron Moore and Heather Deen. Daniel Baynes served as advisor.
Southern Wayne High School – Josh Chappell, Joshulyn Johnson and Denise McKinney. Chuck Crumpler served as advisor.
Spring Creek High School – Jeremy Sanders, Brooke Albertson and Daniel Carrino. Michael Jones served as advisor.
Wayne Early Middle College – Mary Elizabeth West and Lizzie Williams. Cathy Fonvielle served as advisor.
