Approximately 150 volunteers participated in the 2004 Wayne County Litter Sweep on April 17, 2004. Volunteers cleaned approximately 52 miles of roads and collected approximately 420 bags of trash. The Wayne County landfill accepted 400 tons of trash on this date at no charge.
Litter Sweep is a joint effort of the County of Wayne, City of Goldsboro, North Carolina Department of Transportation and Keep Wayne County Beautiful. Sunburst of Goldsboro sponsored the box lunches again this year.
