The Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District selected to sponsor Thuan Nguyen, a student from Eastern Wayne high school, to attend the 2015 Resource Conservation workshop (RCW) held at NC State University.
While attending the RCW Thuan was able to spend a week in the field learning about our natural resources and their management in today's environment, along with meeting and receiving guidance from natural resource professionals. He was also the recipient of a scholarship and cash prize and second place over all winner at the RCW. We congratulate Thuan on his scholarship and winnings, and thank him for representing Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District.

The Soil Science Society of America (SSSA) has launched a campaign to encourage awareness of soil. The goal is to educate the public about the importance of healthy soils and introduce them to the soil science profession. The message is simple and creates awareness about how critical soil is for life. The materials developed by the SSSA makes learning about soil fun and exciting.
