Wayne County, NC – Wayne County Department of Social Services Board Chairman E. Ray
Mayo announced the hiring of Kimberly McGuire as the Director of the Department of Social Services for Wayne County effective May 24, 2019 at 5 p.m. Ms. McGuire will be filling the position currently held by Tammy Schrenker whose resignation was announced earlier this month. McGuire joined Wayne County DSS in 2003 and was most recently named Deputy Director of the department in December 2018.
Department of Social Services Board Chairman Ray Mayo said, “We are pleased that Kimberly has accepted this position. We feel confident with Kimberly in this role, knowing that she is capable, and we look forward to her leadership in the future of this department.”
County Manager Craig Honeycutt added, “We are thrilled to have Kimberly step up as Director of the Department of Social Services. She has been dedicated to the citizens of Wayne County for many years and will continue to push DSS forward in the years to come.”
Ms. McGuire said, “For 17 years, I have worked alongside dedicated and hardworking Department of Social Services staff and have found great joy in experiencing the growth of Wayne County. Today, I am honored and humbled for this opportunity to continue to work with and lead DSS down the exceptional path we’ve started. My dedication and passion to this community allows for an easy transition into this new role. It will allow me to continue doing what I love to do when working to enhance the lives of families, children and citizens of Wayne County.”
