Wayne County, NC – With the threat of severe weather expected to impact our area this evening, all Wayne County Government facilities will be closing at 5 p.m. today, February 6, 2020. Departments that will be impacted include the Peggy M. Seegars Senior Center, all branches of the Wayne County Public Library, and the Wayne County Solid Waste Convenience Centers. All offices will re-open tomorrow, February 7, 2020 for regular business hours.
The National Weather Service is forecasting heavy rains, damaging winds, and flash flooding across the County with this storm system. Safety is our number one priority and our decision to close these facilities will allow employees and residents to safely return home in advance of any severe weather. Wayne County residents are urged to enroll in CodeRED weather alerts delivered via phone call or text message. Enrollment is free and simple by visiting WayneGov.com and click the CodeRED banner at the bottom of the page.
