Wayne County, NC – Over the past two months, Commissioners and County management have joined together with leaders of the Wayne County Public School System to bring the facts about the sales tax referendum to voters in the March 3rd primary election.
The Wayne County Board of Commissioners and staff would like to thank the following civic and government groups across the County for their support of the quarter-cent sales & use tax referendum: Wayne County Board of Education, City of Goldsboro City Council, Town of Mount Olive Board of Commissioners, Town of Fremont Board of Commissioners, Village of Walnut Creek Town Council, Town of Pikeville Board of Commissioners, Town of Seven Springs Town Council, Wayne County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Wayne County Tourism Development Authority, Wayne County Board of Realtors, Wayne County GOP, Wayne County Development Alliance, Wayne County Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Goldsboro Rotary Club, Mount Olive Rotary Club, Mounty Olive Exchange Club, Farm Bureau, Fremont Christian Alliance, Wayne County Mobile Home Park Association, Karl Best Leadership Agriculture Program, and the Education Alumni Group – Goldsboro First Baptist.
If passed by voters on March 3, this sales tax referendum will allow Wayne County to begin work on $32 million in public school facility improvements. To help citizens become more informed, the school district has launched an Informational Website (www.waynecountyschools.org/salestax.aspx) which includes an Interactive Map of School Projects, a Breakdown of School Projects & Estimated Costs, and a FAQ about the proposed sales tax.
