County Offices Closed Tuesday, February 3

All Wayne County Government offices will be CLOSED on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 due to continued hazardous travel conditions following the recent winter storm.

The February 3, 2026, regularly scheduled meeting of the Wayne County Board of Commissioners will be held remotely, in accordance with NCGS §166A-19.24.

Wayne County Emergency Management continues to monitor conditions and coordinate with local and state agencies. Residents are asked to check on neighbors, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow official alerts for ongoing updates.

This applies to all municipalities in Wayne County.

Cold Weather Safety Tips:

People:

  • Dress in layers and cover exposed skin.
  • Limit time outdoors and avoid prolonged exposure to the cold.
  • Keep emergency blankets and supplies in your car if travel is necessary.

Homes:

  • Let faucets drip overnight to prevent pipes from freezing.
  • Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air circulate around plumbing.
  • Keep thermostats at 55°F or warmer, even if you’re away.

Pets:

  • Bring pets indoors. Ensure they have access to warm shelter and unfrozen water.

Neighbors:

  • Check on elderly or medically vulnerable neighbors and family members, especially those who may be without heat or power.
