Commissioner Harrell was elected to the Wayne County Board of Commissioners in November 2024 as the commissioner for District 4.
Tim is a lifelong resident of Wayne County, living in the Grantham Community where he resides on his family farm. He is a graduate of Southern Wayne High School and attended North Carolina State University. There he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture and Extension Education, a Masters degree in School Administration, and a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership. He has worked in public education for twenty eight years and has served in many capacities during that time. He has been a high school Agriculture teacher, Science teacher, Physical Education teacher, and coach of basketball, football, and softball. He has served as Assistant Principal of Carver Elementary in Mount Olive, Southern Wayne High School in Dudley, and Princeton Graded School in Princeton. He served as Principal of Grantham School in Grantham, Southern Wayne High in Dudley, and North Johnston High School in Kenly. He most recently has served at the district level as a Career and Technical Education Director, County Athletic Director, Special Projects Director, and Assistant Superintendent of Support Services for Wayne County Schools.
He is the son of Dannie and Kay Harrell and the proud father of Landon Harrell. He is married to his wonderful wife Michelle who is also an educator. He is honored to have the opportunity to serve his community and the citizens of Wayne County.
