The Pharmacy Department provides supportive pharmaceutical services to all programs offered by the Wayne County Health Department.
Functions
The WCHD Pharmacy provides pharmaceutical care to the patients who have been seen by one of the clinics or programs held in the WCHD. Pharmaceutical care includes, but is not limited to, dispensing medications, providing drug information and screening for possible drug interactions.
Staff
A full-time pharmacist who serves as the pharmacist manager staffs the WCHD Pharmacy. There are a few part-time contract registered pharmacists and some WCHD registered nurses that work in the pharmacy as needed under the supervision of the pharmacist manager.
Services
Pharmaceutical Services are offered in the following categories:
- Antibiotics to treat communicable diseases and other common infections
- Contraceptive hormones and devices
- Medications to provide prophylactic therapy and to treat active cases of tuberculosis
- Prenatal vitamins and Iron products for maternity patients
Eligibility
Any patient who presents a prescription written by one of the WCHD authorized prescribers.
Fees
A $2 dispensing fee is charged for certain prescriptions.
Pharmacy Hours
- Monday - Friday
- 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
- Closed one hour for lunch break scheduled daily between Noon - 2 p.m.
