Tuberculosis (TB) Control Program

The Wayne County Health Department tuberculosis control program works to identify, treat and prevent the spread of tuberculosis disease in Wayne County. The program provides free consultation to health care providers in the county and free medication for those with TB infection or TB Disease. The TB control program works :

  • To ensure the identification of all persons with active tuberculosis disease are appropriately treated until they are rendered and remain non-infectious.
  • To ensure that persons with TB infection remain non infectious through the use of preventive drug therapy.
  • To provide community education to health care providers on TB Control programmatic updates in North Carolina and Wayne County.
